Stirk House Wedding Venue

Stirk House is a gorgeous wedding venue located in Lisburn, just north of Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley.

A charming and almost intimate feeling wedding venue, Stirk House is a very popular choice - and I have been a Stirk House Wedding Photographer for brides coming from a variety of locations; North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Clitheroe, Preston…and one even as far as Australia!

Elisha and Lee, though are more ‘local’, and hail from Bury, but fell in love with the venue when they first visited.

“Built back in 1635, Stirk House exudes character and many authentic features can still be seen today, including a magnificent stone arch above the fireplace and even the original doorway which continues to welcome guests to this special place after all these years. Constructed using stonework from the former Sawley Abbey, dismantled a century earlier during Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries, Stirk House has been unique from its very beginning. The building has stood through two world wars and survived a devastating fire before becoming the highly acclaimed venue we know and love…”

Stirk House is a Wedding Venue Tardis - don’t let the exterior fool you, it’s a lot bigger than it looks inside. If you’re looking for a charming, historic wedding venue, full of character and old-world style, then I would definitely add Stirk House to your shortlist.

Recommended Wedding Photographer at Stirk House

I am proud to be a recommended Stirk House Wedding Photographer, and have been for a few years. I love working here with its contrast of new and old, plus the twenty two acres of land around the venue (not that we use all of it!!) when being a Stirk House Wedding Photographer. My natural style of wedding photography works very well at Stirk House - virtually all my work is available light, with quiet, high quality cameras. No flashguns popping all day ruining the atmosphere, I capture your wedding as it happens live. You’ll hardly know I’m there for most of the day as your Stirk House Wedding Photographer.

Wedding Fairs at Stirk House

I met Elisha & Lee at a wedding fair at Stirk House last autumn. I also met Lee’s mum Hilary who loved my work as much as Elisha & Lee did. So much so, that she wouldn’t take no for an answer and booked me on the spot - and made me rearrange an appointment I had booked in for Elisha & Lee’s wedding!! No damage done, I was now fully committed to this one, and looking forward to having fun with the family as their Stirk House Wedding Photographer. Speaking of family, Elisha’s dad Pete used to work for Parcelforce and deliver my wedding albums to me! Small world…

Emotional Wedding Ceremony at Stirk House

As Elisha walked down the aisle with proud dad Pete, poor Lee was a little overcome with emotion. I didn’t even have to use my onion on a stick, Lee was riding a pure rollercoaster of emotion as Elisha arrived. The happy tears instantly changed to full on laughter as both of them fluffed their lines slightly and dealt with a little heckling from a family member….awesome! (Elisha had her moment earlier in the day, when Lee surprised her with a personalised number plate for her car!) A double fist pump at the end of the ceremony from the new Mr & Mrs Speakman, and we were off to throw confetti and start the celebrations!

Natural Stirk House wedding photography

The weather broke for the better after the confetti throw, so we quickly photographed some family group photos plus some relaxed, natural couple photos of the newlyweds. From the drinks reception we were inside the beautifully styled reception by Creative Cover Hire for the wedding breakfast and brilliant speeches. More photos in my collection as a Stirk House Wedding Photographer.

Singing Waiter at a wedding

Unbeknown to the guests was a solo singing waiter. Quietly working away with the real staff, our ‘Bumbling Hero’ wanted to make a speech and a toast to the newlyweds - an apparent tradition as a new member of staff! Unfortunately he toasted Elisha and Brian, and (legend) Dave the Manger grabbed the mic and apologised to the guests. A bewildered Lee then jumped for joy as our Hero started singing. So did everybody else! A full-on singing session with hit after hit, a conga and a My Girl dance started the party brilliantly with the speeches to follow on. I was kept very busy as a Stirk House Wedding Photographer. Busier still when the Bucking Bronco ride arrived!

Here are some highlights from the day…
