Holmes Mill Wedding Venue In Clitheroe

Holmes Mill is a popular, rustic-industrial wedding venue in the Ribble Valley, featuring a dramatic engine room, brewery, and festive outdoor areas - perfect for some unique, stylish wedding photos; lending itself to show its unique character with creative, candid, and industrial-styled imagery. As a Holmes's Mill Wedding Photographer, I love working this place…it’s different every visit.

Holmes Mill describes itself as…

“Based in the heart of Clitheroe, Holmes Mill is a unique celebration of Lancashire food, drink and entertainment. Featuring a beer hall, hotel, food hall and much more, this former textiles mill is the perfect place to indulge, unwind and explore…”

If you’re looking for a unique wedding venue, full of character and old-world industrial charm, then I would definitely add a Holmes Mill Wedding on your wedding planning. This was to be my fourth time as a Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer, and I was really looking forward to working at the venue again. Even in January!

Ella & Jude booked me to be their Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer for their winter wedding, after meeting me at a wedding fair organised by Little White Books

Hand-Made Wedding In The Ribble Valley

Ella & Jude’s wedding was to be a brilliant, hand-made affair, using a lot of up cycling - both for their attire and for the main ceremony / reception areas in The Cotton Room. Ella’s wedding dresses (yes, she had two!) were vintage, up cycled and perfectly ‘her’. Ella’s second dress for the evening party was created from her mum’s original wedding dress, and a great surprise for all the evening guests. Shoes came from Vinted - a stunning pair of Vivienne Westwood ‘Melissa’ for the ceremony, plus classic Converse for the party - all personalised by Ella, and great to photograph as a Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer.

Clitheroe Park Run

On the day of Ella & Jude’s wedding, Ella’s bridal preparations began by taking part in the Clitheroe Park Run with her dad! She was still back to Holmes Mill on time to meet myself though, and all excited as her and the girls were getting ready. Ella did her own hair and makeup too, amongst the quiet chaos of around eight ladies all sharing the mirrors and hairdryers at the same time. This ‘chaos’ gave this Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer some great natural images. I spent a little time with Jude too - quite the polar opposite atmosphere in his rooms he got ready in relative tranquility with his mum and dad. Great to see personalised cards everywhere too, some given as gifts with key ring photos from Ella & Jude’s pre-wedding shoot, as their Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer.

Documentary Wedding Photography at Holmes Mill

I really enjoyed my day as Ella & Jude’s Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer, producing documentary photography at their summer wedding. My brief was just to let the day flow and capture their story as it happened, live and unstaged. The emotions flowed for a few people as the ceremony was about to start. Just and his dad especially. Poor Jude was emotional all the way through the ceremony too as the couple shared their vows. On a different note, the evening party was brilliant. Jude’s dad won the First Dance Bingo - Whigfield - ‘Saturday Night’. A big surprise to all the guests, who jumped onto the dance floor, line-dancing along and bumping me everywhere as I worked amongst the crowd as a Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer. Surprise number two was Ella’s saxophone jam to the dance track Calabria. She rocked the house with this, as she took centre stage in her mum’s up cycled wedding dress and Converse, giving me some great shots as their Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer.

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
