The Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Venue

Intimate Wedding at The Swan Hotel & Spa

Claire & Rob chose The Swan Hotel & Spa at Newby Bridge in the Lake District as their wedding venue for their intimate family wedding. They also chose me to be their Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Photographer, as they really liked my natural style of wedding photography. Nothing posed, nothing contrived was how the couple described my work. With around forty wedding guests, plus a full day of emotion, fun and laughter beckoning, the couple booked me to tell their wedding story at The Swan Hotel & Spa. As their Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Photographer, I was to be with them from preparations to the evening and the dancing. Not ones for being on camera, I spent just enough time with them in the morning when they were getting ready, allowing them some extra privacy as their Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Photographer.

Their wedding day was late March, so a beautiful Spring day was expected…and the weather did not disappoint! It was beautiful, almost Summer. I have worked as a Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Photographer before, so know the venue well. I arrived early to have a good look around, planning where we would photograph a few family group photos, plus some great areas for the couple photos later on in the day. The Swan Hotel & Spa offers a gorgeous riverside location for photos, plus a lovely little jetty…’Go on, you won’t fall’! The wedding guests were starting to gather around midday for Claire & Rob’s wedding. Everybody was excited. Everybody was looking forward to this Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding.

Lake District Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony was brilliant - funny, emotional and heartfelt. Every wedding guest watched Claire & Rob tie the knot with smiles all over their faces. One of the guests did a blessing after the ceremony - again, a gorgeous heartfelt few minutes with happy tears for the couple. This was now the base for a brilliant afternoon reception at the Swan Hotel & Spa, with my capturing some great moments and expressions throughout the day as a Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Photographer.

Authentic wedding photography at The Swan Hotel & Spa Newby Bridge

As I say, Claire & Rob wanted me to capture their Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding with authenticity and naturally, with no cheese. Easy when my clients are this relaxed and allow me to do my thing as their Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Photographer. We spent a lot of the afternoon outside the venue relaxing (the guests, not me!) and having fun. After a few family group photos, Claire, Rob and I wandered off for a few minutes’ photographing a few classic Swan Hotel & Spa wedding photos (ok, a couple of them were posed). But I think these wedding photos tick all the boxes; authentic, natural happy memories from the day.

The Eccentric Pony Band

For the evening entertainment, Claire & Ron booked The Eccentric Pony Band for their Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding. These guys were brilliant, and the dance floor filled quickly half way through Claire & Rob’s first dance. Intimate wedding? This was just a smaller full-on wedding celebration as the guests whirled around the dance floor singing along to some ‘banging tunes’ played by the band. As Claire & Rob’s Swan Hotel & Spa Wedding Photographer, I shot some lovely dance floor action for their collection. I was really please with how the day went, and felt privileged to be part of such a brilliant wedding day at the Swan Hotel & Spa Newby Bridge. Thanks for a great day guys!

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
