Highlights from Jemma & Rob’s brilliant wedding at this charming boutique Cheshire venue

Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding Venue

Alderley Edge Hotel is a gorgeous boutique wedding venue, located in the heart of Cheshire. This was to be my first time working here as an Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding Photographer for Jemma & Rob’s big day. It describes itself as…

“Our unique, boutique hotel is nestled in lush grounds, just a short walk from Cheshire’s playground of the rich and famous and the bustling and eclectic village of Alderley Edge. A perfect choice for friends’ gets togethers, couple’s retreats or an escape to explore the woodland walks to the Edge with views over Cheshire, Manchester and the Peak District.

The close proximity to major transport networks also makes us a great choice for a business stay base if visiting nearby Wilmslow, Handforth, Macclesfield, Cheshire East or the Manchester airport area.

The contemporary Grill on the Hill restaurant serves a fabulous array of unique dishes. The ambient bar and lounge area has delicious lighter meals, and both have a great selection of drinks and wines. The Secret Garden is our al fresco dining and drinking hidden gem and is the ideal spot to enjoy one of our signature cocktails.

Rooms are very modern with some fabulous suites, upgrades available.

Our team are a fabulous bunch of people who will do their upmost to make you feel especially welcome during your stay”.

Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding Photographer

Jemma & Rob booked me on the strength of my portfolio as their Alderley Edge Wedding Photographer, and we met in Heaton Park for an engagement shoot around a month or so before their summer wedding. The couple and I hit it off straight away. Rob has his work cut out though, as Jemma is a proper live wire, and great fun to have around. Always laughing and smiling, Jemma is the boss…but Rob is the strong silent type. A perfect combination!

On the morning I arrived nice and early for bridal prep photos, plus taking a little time away from the hotel to catch up with Rob and his groomsmen down the road at The Merlin . Rob was sporting a stunning new Hamilton watch - a wedding gift from Jemma…(Lucky Rob!) and was in great form. He even stopped for thirty seconds for a quick portrait by the window. Then…my time was up and I lost him again amongst the lads’ preparations…

Jack Smithies Films

On wedding video duties for the day was the uber talented Jack Smithies Wedding Videos. This was Jack’s third wedding with the bridal party, having already been to two bridesmaids weddings and captured them beautifully. Jack is a really down to earth guy, and very friendly. Working together with Jack enabled me to be a very efficient Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding Photographer, as we worked together really well, sharing ideas and time managing our couples shoot effectively while we were ‘on The Edge (literally!) More of that next.

Authentic wedding photography at Alderley Edge

My schedule for the day was pretty full on, taking into account the booked wedding breakfast time, and we had allocated thirty minutes to photograph some couples photos actually on Alderley Edge itself. As an Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding Photographer, I was really looking forward to revisiting ‘The Edge’ as it had been some time. A wedding guests was drafted in as the driver and took Jack & myself up the road to The Edge for the couple portraits. It was great fun, all live and unstated, with some great authentic wedding images to show from our short time up there. Even the local dog walkers gave us space to work whilst were on The Edge, quietly watching from the wings as I carried on my Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding Photographer duties, and photographed this seemingly never ending laughter from my clients.

Weddings at The Alderley Edge Hotel

With the formal family group photos taken and ‘in the can’, it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches for this Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding Photographer. Up first was Jemma, laughing and smiling her way through the thank-yous, stopping briefly for a little tear regarding absent friends. But she set the bar. Up next, a quieter, though very funny Rob did a brilliant job. As did his two best men, systematically ‘destroying’ Rob in front of the gathered wedding guests. Hilarious! With a brief respite for a few drinks, it was time for the cake cut and first dance. This wedding at the Alderley Edge Hotel stepped up a couple of gears for a crazy evening party!

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
